Mount Rushmore is an AMAZING piece of art located in South Dakota that has everyone in oohs and aws. This eye-catching view is a wonderful canvas of our presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln from left to right. Nearly 3 million come visit Mount Rushmore each year! Maybe, some of the people who come to visit want to see where the famous movies they’ve watched before were filmed. Movies like North by Northwest directed by Alfred Hitchock in 1959, National Treasure: Book of Secrets from 2007, and even Superman ll filmed in 1980.
What’s the purpose of this lovely site of our presidents you say? “The purpose of the memorial is to communicate the founding, expansion, preservation, and unification of the United States with colossal statues of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.” - Gutzon Borglum; who is actually the one who created Mount Rushmore.
Next time you think about visiting Mount Rushmore, take a moment and appreciate the symbolism of it, which is freedom, liberty, and the power of a dream that we once never had.
